2011 – Rock & Roll – 12-15-11 – OUTDOOR ARENA TRAINING
12/14-15/11: On the 14th, Rock laid down for 2 hours and 45 minutes which was not a good thing. He had been on Bute the week before and I suspect his feet were bothering him again. We got him up, gave him Bute and he seemed to be much better this morning. We gave him Bute again this morning, but will discontinue it again tonight and see how he fares. We also started him back on 2 scoops (1/2 dose) of Cosequin last night, but are cutting it back to one scoop so he doesn’t get too loose in the joints again. If he does well, we can always increase it later.
Roll had a very good workout in the indoor round pen today. I was amazed at how well he has retained his balance and strength. He did his 5 rotations at walk and 10 rotations at trot both directions with impulsion for most of it. The twist in the right hind foot was minimal and the shoes appear to be keeping that foot relatively stable. Roll’s weight and attitude are both good. He definitely is feeling much better and continues to improve.
