Action Alert: Starving Horses In South Dakota!

Horses dying of starvation, in pain and in critical condition. I spoke with the Sheriff this morning and he said the horses will be seized from ISPMB and a walk through made by the vet, and the horses that need to be humanely euthanized to end their suffering will be taken care of. As we can provide CRITICAL CARE, he said we need to be there on Thursday.

We have no idea who we will be bringing home, but we desperately need funds to accomplish this rescue. If no one can provide the critical care, the horses will have to be euthanized. So right now we are getting ready for the long drive out there.

Please help us give them a chance. They deserve so much more than they have been given.

The Sheriff agreed that the solution is to find safe loving homes for these horses. But for the ones who need critical care, we have to be there Thursday.

It feels like such a lost cause, because there are so many, but God is telling me to help the ones we can. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP to HELP THEM!  Please share this far and wide and donate if you can. We were hoping for a breather, but cannot in good conscience not try to step up and help.

 

URGENT ACTION ALERT: Stop the Mass Killing of 45,000 Wild Horses & Burros

Update: The Bureau of Land Management responded to public outcry on Wednesday, saying that the department has no current plans to kill the horses and will continue caring for any horses that are not sold at auction. The department has not yet formally replied to the advisory board’s proposal, but will do so at its next meeting, Reuters reported.

On September 9, the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board voted to recommend the killing of as many as 45,000 captured wild horses and burros in government holding pens as an “emergency” measure. The agency wants to clear the holding pens so that it can round up 40,000 more wild horses and burros from their homes on the range.

The danger is imminent, but can only become reality if Congress and the Administration authorize this mass killing.

Take a Stand Today! Tell Congress and the Administration NO killing or sterilization of America’s mustangs and burros.

ACTION ALERT: Support Humane Burro Management in Arizona!

This is an urgent action alert from the American Wild Horse Preservation.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting public comments on an Environmental Assessment for a humane PZP fertility control pilot research program for BURROS RED ROCK USFS PHOTOwild burros in the Black Mountain Herd Management Area located near Kingman, AZ. The program will be a public-private partnership between the BLM and the Humane Society of the United States.

The Black Mountain wild burro population is one of the largest and most genetically healthy burro populations remaining in the U.S. The BLM is doing the right thing in this case by prioritizing humane burro management despite vocal calls from some state and local officials for large-scale roundups and removals….One county supervisor even called for opening a hunting season for burros in this area!

Action Alert: Say NO to BLM Mine Expansion in Wild Horse Habitat

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) currently is accepting public comments on a plan to expand the Bald Mountain mining operation that will affect the wild horses living in the Triple B Herd Management Area (HMA) in White Pine County, Nevada. The proposed action will permanently remove 1,210 acres of already scarce vegetation available for wild horses, temporarily remove an additional 6,879 acres of currently available forage, reduce the amount of water available for wild horse use, increase the size of the area negatively impacted by human activity and noise, and pose a risk to wild horse safety and health by either physical injury or exposure to poisonous mercury and cyanide contamination, which is a byproduct of gold mining.

Comments must be received by September 28, 2015.
