The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:
Happy New Year from Camp Chilly Pepper and all of our kids, (past & present) in Nevada.
This year has been full of ups and downs, but the end of all this work resulted in saving 89 horses from the slaughter pipeline.
There has been immense heartbreak, tons of craziness, as well as unbelievable blessings with the move. I literally had 2 weeks to “git ‘er done” and that was not an easy couple of weeks for sure.
I am so thankful to God and all of our Chilly Pepper Family for making this possible. Chilly Pepper now has 7 acres at it’s disposal for as long as I need it and little by little I am getting it set up. Being by myself raises so many challenges, but I have been so blessed with lots of little miracles.
Sadly I am struggling more and more with my physical disabilities, but I think God keeps me buried in this rescue so I won’t end up a couch potato. These beautiful souls keep me fighting and I know this is what He wants.
We saved 89 horses this year, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!! There is still so much to do to get “camp” set up to maximize how many horses we can save.
We still have all of our permanent residents in NV and I am praying I get home soon.
The need for more fencing, shelters, hay, feed and medical supplies continues to be somewhat overwhelming. I have faith that little by little it will get done. For now I am just trying to finish off the vet bill which once again has gone up with gelding, Coggins and Health Certificates, and get home for at least a little while. I need hay in NV again and the kids down there send out a huge THANK YOU for saving them as well.
If you want to help with the Vet Bill, call Goldendale Veterinary at 509-773-0369.
I appreciate every single one of our Chilly Pepper Family. God has truly blessed this rescue!
Have a safe, blessed and life saving 2023!

Hi all,
Thank you for saving the Christmas kids. As always, there was a big wrench thrown into this rescue. As I was on my way, I received a message that I also had to save the STALLION. IF I didn’t take him too, I couldn’t save the mares.
Thankfully, we are set up for wild stallions so of course I said yes. Sadly his feet are horrific and he is very thin under his coat. He is exactly NOT what was described. He is much older than I was told, very thin and most likely needs dental work asap.
Mercedes update – Mercedes gave birth to a beautiful, perfectly formed, stillborn baby on the 15th. He was beyond perfect, Mercedes had no issues as he was not big like we were worried about. However in a devastating turn of events his umbilical cord was cinched around his flank during birth, which immediately cut off his blood supply, sending him straight into the Angel’s arms.
Doc was here minutes after I called her, but he passed in the birth canal and was beyond resuscitation. (Note to folks. You cannot put pressure on that area of a newborn baby as it can kill them. One of the first things we learned years ago was to NEVER ever pick up a newborn baby under his legs.)
I had just picked up Mercedes at the vet the night before and both Mommy and Baby were doing great. Baby was moving and Mercedes was fine. I have no words and don’t even know how to breathe even today.
THANK YOU for saving the girls and our unexpected boy. Princess left yesterday for her new home, and we are praying the weather clears so I can finally get these kids home to Nevada.
If you would like to help with Tonka’s vetting (gelding, teeth floating, Coggins) or his vast feeding needs, it is much appreciated. God gives and He takes away. I have yet to understand why I have so many old timers that have had a life and why so many new littles are gone too soon, However, all I can do is pray and have faith, knowing someday I will have the answers.
THANK YOU for the baby gifts for our precious Noah. It breaks my heart knowing how much love is behind every blanket, halter etc. that was sent for him. I wish I could hug each and every one of you. It has been beyond devastating, especially as Mercedes’ journey to health was so long and difficult.
Have a Merry Christmas and thank you for saving so many lives this year!

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang:
We have a very last minute call to action. I have 41 hours until I need to be sitting in the driveway to save these mares.
I was approached prior to today, and said “no”. I simply don’t have funds to do this rescue.
However, when I woke up this morning and looked at my phone, the 1st message was “Do Not Be Afraid”. Minutes later I answered the phone and was asked once again to save these mares as they LITERALLY have no where else to go.
So I am once again going on faith. Although weather conditions are ugly, my trailer is now hooked up and ready to go.
I need to raise upwards of at least $4000 to take on these pregnant mares. It will literally cost $2,000 to pick them up, get them back here and get them vetted, then get them transported home to Nevada. (This is just the fee for a Coggins test and a Health Certificate.) The 3 of them are not only big beefy girls, they are also pregnant.
If they ended up in the wrong hands, the fact that they are so big and healthy, would make them prime candidates for a kill buyer.
They need good groceries and we all know the price of hay, feed, bedding, diesel, supplements and everything else needed to care for the horses has costs have risen exorbitantly, so have the prices for grain, diesel and everything else we need to save them.
IT’S UP TO YOU!
DO I say YES?
Do we save these beautiful girls and give them their Christmas Miracle? I am ready and willing to do what is needed, will you help save their lives??
Most of you might have seen posts about these horses. Chilly Pepper is starting at ground zero with our fundraiser. We have received zero dollars that were donated to other folks.
If you donated for these beautiful girls elsewhere I would contact the folks you donated to.

Another EMERGENCY Call, ANOTHER 911!
Will you help us save “Grandma Gladys”? Look at that beautiful face and those sweet eyes. The pictures do not show how skinny she really is under all that hair.
Gladys has been suffering in single digit temperatures and going without food for days at a time. She stands shaking and trembling through the cold nights,SHIVERING violently to try and stay warm. If we don’t do something now, it is going to be too late.
She is literally starving to death before our eyes. Enough is enough, she has been suffering far too long! Will you PLEASE help us give her the love and care that she deserves?
Starving is a horrible and extremely painful way to die. She is probably close to Sparkles’ condition under all that hair. Her head looks enormous because her body is so depleted and she is so emaciated.
PLEASE HELP ME HELP HER BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE! I can’t take another heartbreak like Sparkles, and Grandma Gladys is in extremely critical condition. No horse deserves to starve/freeze to death.
Thank you for everyone for your love and support. Y’all are amazing and together we are changing the world, one life at a time. Let’s change Grandma Gladys’ life too! Let’s be her Thanksgiving miracle.
Please call 509-773-0369 if you would like to help with the vet bill.

Please forgive me if this is poorly written. I am sitting in the hospital (actually after care at Renown Skilled Nursing). There are some pain meds involved, so hopefully you will have patience with any grammatical errors.
WOW – What an adventure. Matt and I were prepping to pick up the 14 babies y’all came through for. It was Sunday and we were maybe 10 minutes from pulling out of the driveway. I was in the office grabbing my purse when I took a step and “snap”. I had been on my crutches for about a week and my leg felt like it was going to snap every now and then. The last time it felt like this they had to add cadaver bone. I didn’t think it actually would break, but it did. Shown above you can see the initial hardware below the break.
So instead of heading out with both trucks and trailers, we sat waiting for the ambulance to come. We still had to pull the babies, but obviously I wasn’t going anywhere. We immediately called my neighbor Ammy Gorsuch and she and her hubby came over right away. She would immediately take on providing Hope and Gypsum’s milk and their care.
[toggle_framed title=”Continue Reading” variation=”blue”]
So Matt and I both got to go to the hospital in Winnemucca, and then went our separate ways. I had to go to Reno for surgery, and Matt headed out to Washington to pick up the babies. As usual, the number was no where near close, and Matt picked up 22 babies from the shipper, in addition to another youngster waiting for us at Mel’s. So now we had 23 babies to bail, get vetted and it was no longer Matt and I with two rigs.
As usual, Matt stepped up and “got ‘er done”. We have a pretty good set up at Mel’s to get the younger ones vetted, and although Matt wanted to be home with me, as usual we just had to do what was needed. (When Matt was in the hospital having his knee replaced several years ago, I was on the road saving Cowboy.).
Thankfully we have some amazing folks who are helping adopt these kids out and taking on some for their 4-H projects. We want to thank everyone who not only made it happen financially (the cost was roughly $5,750), but also everyone who stepped up and took on the physical care of these babies.
At this time we have 18 at home in NV. We have some special needs, some waiting for adoption, and some of them are permanent kids at Chilly Pepper and we need to provide them the care they came for. As soon as I get home and can safely do so, we need to get Kyle, the Blonde Belgian, checked out for his front legs, the stallion gelded and multiple other chores done. Then we can start getting ready for winter.
Y’ALL CAME TOGETHER AND SAVED ANOTHER 23 ORPHANS……..!!!!!!
A special thanks to Mel, Kenny & Cam, at the Yakima Foal Orphanage and to Helen & Marla of Thunder Mountain, and Kim Clark and the rest of our angels out there. There are so many more folks involved in each and every one of these rescues, Wendi Clark, Dannielle Dawn Dustin, Theresa Bowman, just to mention a few. WE are not the ones saving all these horses. It is ALL OF Y’ALL, and ALL of the folks who step up and take on the responsibility of finding these kids a home instead of leaving them to load up in the slaughter truck.
Thank you for all the love and support and all the lives you’ve saved! We could not do this without you!
To our monthly donors, Due to joining WIN, our tax ID number changed. We appreciate all the ongoing support and are asking you (with so much love and appreciation) to please transfer it to the new Paypal – Palomino@chillypepper.org as we will be closing the old paypal acct. Thank you so much for being part of the Chilly Pepper family.
I apologize for the lack of clear photos. However, Matt and the gang were pretty focused on keeping the kids safe while they were being vetted, so we pulled this off a quick video.

The following is from Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang Rescue.
As I sit here typing, the winds are howling. We have been working in pretty much blizzard conditions, with a wind chill well under 0. It is 3 degrees with the temperature at -20 with the wind chill at this time. More snow is expected in the next few days with even colder temperatures.
At this point Chilly Pepper will have pulled 41 horses, thanks to all the wonderful folks who are helping us save these horses. We are heading out on Friday with the first two trailer loads. With the severity of the weather conditions, we cannot safely sort for the next few days. More snow is expected and it is too icy for sorting. So we will head home and take care of a weather emergency at our own rescue, get the first batch of horses all set up and head back to South Dakota.
While enduring the stress of trying to save as many horses as we possibly can, while fighting through horrific weather, ice underfoot and slipping horses, God sent us another Angel. Because of her generous heart, we are able to bring the above mentioned horses home. Many of them are special needs, with many blind horses in the mix. This is part of what she told us in her email:
[toggle_framed title=”Continue Reading” variation=”blue”]
“Many non-profits encourage people to donate to a charity instead of buying gifts. Personally, I’m going to ask my friends and family that plan on buying my husband and/or I a gift to donate to your rescue.
SAVE A LIFE FOR CHRISTMAS!
You might also include… East Coast donor willing to give up to $10,000 to save Wild 800 Wild Horses! Matching dollar for dollar!”
I liked what she wrote, so I asked her if I could use it.
Many of the horses we are bringing home are special needs, and all of them would have been first in line to be sent down the “dead end road”… We are hoping we can get some sponsors for some of the blind ones. They deserve a wonderful life and since we already have to have a “blind horse playpen” for Shadow, it seemed like the right thing to do. We also have 12 Stallions, with one of them being blind as a bat, and another with a pretty tough medical issue with his leg. But critical care is what we do, so they are coming home for all the love and care we can provide.
I know so many folks have already donated and we are so blessed to be able to save these horses. However, when an Angel steps up and offers to match up to $10,000, well you can be sure I am putting it out there. God bless and please send prayers for safe travel.
Please keep praying for safety, strength, warmer weather and a miracle. I know miracles can happen, and we truly need one.

The following is an update from Chilly Pepper-Miracle Mustang on the ISPMB horses.
First, THANK YOU so much for helping us save these horses. As you can clearly see, they were desperately in need of immediate veterinary and farrier care. Thanks to everyone who has been so loving and generous, these 9 horses from ISPMB are looking at wonderful lives with loving folks.
Matt and I are packing up and we will be delivering the last 5 to their new homes today. Unfortunately we have to drive about 1,000 miles one way to do this. As usual, we need serious help to get these kids to their new homes. Folks often ask why the “adopters” are not paying for transport. These are simply wonderful folks who are willing to take on the huge expenses of rehabbing these beautiful souls and making sure they are cared for the next 30 years. So we are thankful they will take on that huge mission and are praying that y’all will continue your wonderful support so we can get them there.
[toggle_framed title=”Continue Reading” variation=”blue”]
I spoke with Karen yesterday and she told me the Sheriff will be taking control on the 11th. This means that there are nearly 800 horses needing homes in the next 3 weeks or they will end up at auction (slaughter).
What we have done TOGETHER is amazing. It doesn’t sound like so much, only 9 out of over 800, but if 100 other people stepped up and did what YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE, ALL the horses would be saved. So Y’ALL have made a huge difference.
I understand y’all are probably tired of me asking for funding. I absolutely hate having to fund raise, but please remember this is not for me, it is for the horses and I know so many folks want to be part of saving all these lives even if they can’t do it hands on, but do it via financial support. We never want folks to give more than they are comfortable giving, but although I gladly spend 24/7 doing this, it takes a village. My time is all volunteer, and I do this because I truly believe God is putting this in front of me and am so grateful YOU all make it possible.
Unfortunately the budget at Chilly Pepper – Miracle Mustang has been severely trampled on. The last vet bill was about $1500 including the trimming and gelding. Our vet is amazing and gave us every break she could and Twizzle is actually a filly so that also helped.
We appreciate and thank you with every fiber of our being for the help, but this is a crisis, and for some reason God put it in front of us. We have been asked by the Sheriff and several other folks, including Karen, to be there asap.
So as soon as we deliver these beautiful babies the 1000 miles, we have to jump back in the truck and go 1500 miles up to South Dakota. This is a lot of traveling and to be honest, not my preference. At this time, I know of only 4 other trailers that are expected to show up. But God definitely placed the ISPBM situation in front of us and we will do our best to help in any way we can.
Again, THANK YOU for all you have saved, but we are in desperate need of more help to save more of these horses. IF you are interested in adopting any of these beautiful horses, please contact us asap at 530-339-1458.
